The easiest homemade flour tortilla recipe ever.
Serves: 4-6
Prep Time: 15 minutes, plus1 hour rest time
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups (360g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting work surface
2 teaspoons (8g) fine sea salt
½ cup (96g) vegetable oil
½ cup (120ml) warm water
Method:
In a medium bowl, add all your ingredients (except the extra flour) and mix with your hand until combined. Once a shaggy dough forms, knead for 2 minutes or until smooth.
Place your dough ball onto your work surface and cover with a damp towel to rest for 10 minutes.
Flour your work surface and once the dough is rested, pinch off ½-inch round balls of dough for taco sized tortillas. Flour the top of the dough ball lightly and then using your hand, flatten the ball into a small disc. Using a rolling pin, gently roll the dough out until paper thin, turning and rolling as you go.
Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat (around 350°F/176°C) and cook until the tortilla begins to bubble, about 1 minute, flip and cook for another minute. Stack the tortillas as you cook them and cover them with a towel to keep them warm. Serve and enjoy.
